I’m excited to use this with my 3 year old and start helping him with his letter recognition. Plus the mailbox idea is so cute!
I love how simple it is and gives me a way to easily teach my kiddos about the environment!
First, we tried this with snow, now let’s test it with gel! The school-age winter crate had 4 water gel activities and they LOVED them!
They learned about what the water gel is:
The water gel powder is composed of a Superabsorbent Polymer (SAP). This is a material that is capable of absorbing several hundred to 1,000 times its own weight in water. Today, SAP is used in a wide range of applications such as disposable diapers.
Super-absorbent polymers, such as sodium poly(acrylate), were first developed in the late 1960s by the US Department of Agriculture. They were searching for ways to hold moisture in the soil more effectively.
Next, we tested how much water it could hold. 💧
Batch two included coloring the gel and then layering it in a solo cup to watch the colors merge and create the rainbow! 🌈
